Columns – the fun of writing regularly

Yeah, yeah, I love my column at Moondance! It’s a great opportunity to explore themes that I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen for myself, to look at other people’s responses to the same theme, and to generally kick back and share my wisdom (such as it is) with the world.

My latest column is a very autobiographical one, which makes it a more than usually intense experience to see my words in print: click for Moondance

The column was great. I did wonder at you claiming to be too afraid to dig deeper into the family history yourself. Because so many living people still inhabit it? My mother is deeply into geneological research, and all the skeletons she’s unearthed are fabulous — and completely without fear for me. But the current generation seems little touched by the past’s oddities, and downright insanities, in some cases. So far. I’m glad you found reason to reconsider the satin dress. Much bitchery covers dispair of one shade or another, I expect.

Excellent column, Hon. The more you write and the more I read, the more we seem to share. My grandmother died last year at 98 and played us all against eachother. I hated her and loved her. I think I loved her more for all those reasons you mention.
